Problem statements


  1. How would soaking the ice cream sticks affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  2. How would bending each ice cream sticks affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  3. How would applying diluted glue across the entire structure affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  4. How would adding anchors at both sides of the bridge affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  5. How would the length/width/height of the bridge affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  6. How would an arch/truss affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?
  7. How would flipping the arch such that the arch is below the bridge affect the efficiency of it?
  8. How would cutting of the ice cream sticks affect the overall efficiency of the bridge?

Specific requirements


We are required to build a bridge – as light as possible – but yet could carry the most amount of weight. It cannot be more than 500g in mass, and has to have a length of between 550mm to 650mm, a maximum width of 120mm, and a maximum height of 200mm.
